Anonymization tools
In collaboration with the UN Economic Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the IHSN is developing tools and guidelines on microdata anonymization. These tools are developed as Stata, SPSS and/or SAS programs. They are expected to be available in May 2008. They will be posted on this page.
A free software for microdata anonymization, µ-Argus, has been produced and is distributed by the Computational Aspects of Statistical Confidentiality (CASC) project. The software and its documentation are available for download on the CASC website.
A free software for data swapping, the Data Swapping Toolkit (DSTK), is also available. The DSTK is a comprehensive software package for performing and analyzing data swapping on categorical data within a risk-utility framework. The DSTK was produced by the Digital Government Research Program at the National Institute of Statistical Sciences (NISS), with support from the National Science Foundation and the National Center for Education Statistics.
